Suspect Fraud? Here’s What to Do First

Fraud can happen fast, and what you do in the first few minutes can make a big difference in limiting damage and protecting your accounts.
 
 Whether it’s a suspicious email, an unexpected phone call, or unusual activity on your account, here are the first steps to take if you think you may be a victim of fraud.


Step 1: Stop the Connection
 
 If you believe fraud is happening right now:
 • Put your phone or computer in Airplane Mode
 • Unplug your device from the network or Wi-Fi

This helps prevent additional data from being sent or accessed.


Step 2: End the Interaction
 
 Once you’re suspicious, stop all contact:

 • Do not respond to emails, texts, or phone calls
 • Do not install any software or share more information
